Guidelines
The guidelines for the hall
They are chalked on the tally board at the door, repeated at the learners' bench, and applied by whoever is on the floor without exception.
The door
Who gets in
- Over-18s only, including anyone who is only here for dinner.
- Photo identification may be asked for at the door and again at a table.
- The counter can turn someone away or ask them to leave without explaining itself.
- Assistance animals are welcome; other animals stay outside with someone.
The felt
At the tables
- Chips are house property, count points and hold no monetary value.
- Money passing between players stops the game; twice and the evening is over for that table.
- House decks only, and they stay in the building.
- Held tables are released fifteen minutes past the booked time.
- Score pads are binned at close; nothing carries into the next evening.
The hall
Everyone else in the room
- Phones on silent — it is a shed with a tin roof and sound goes everywhere.
- Ask before you photograph anyone at a table that is not your own.
- The bar stops serving when it judges someone has had enough.
- A taxi can be called any hour we are open, and cars can stay in the yard overnight.
